PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYA

Catalogue setup for butchery POS in Kenya

This guide to catalogue setup for butchery explains the daily checks. Prepare the butchery catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Beef 1 kg, Goat 1 kg and Chicken whole as examples.

Catalogue setup for butchery: decide what one quantity means

Use labelled pre-packed cuts or fixed portions with whole quantities. Give each package size a separate item and price.

A piece, labelled pack or fixed container must have an unambiguous size. Do not label a variable-weight product as one generic unit and expect the POS to measure it.

A starter catalogue to adapt

The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order

  1. Check that Beef 1 kg has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
  2. Distinguish Goat 1 kg from Beef 1 kg; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
  3. Count usable Beef 1 kg units and record that physical opening quantity.
  4. On sample records, sell two Beef 1 kg units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
  5. Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.

Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference

If Beef 1 kg was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.

Product fit for this business

Use whole, pre-packed or fixed-count units. Fractional-weight selling and connected weighing scales are not included.

All amounts and product movements on this page are illustrative. The public demo uses sample records. Use an isolated test installation for rehearsal and replace sample prices and counts before real trading.

Try the workflow before choosing your setup

The launch software licence is KES 4,999 once for one business installation, including its branches and tills. Hardware, installation, hosting, support and future upgrades have separate terms. These planning guides do not activate a licence or deploy an installation.
