This guide to till cash counts for butchery explains the daily checks. Close each named butchery till against its own opening cash and cash transactions. M-Pesa and card records should not be counted as banknotes in the drawer.
Till cash counts for butchery: link the sale to the right counter
For this rehearsal, use two Beef 1 kg units and one Goat 1 kg. Select the branch and named till before recording the sale. The cashier should use a display name that can appear at the receipt footer; an email address is not needed there.

Count the cash actually present, then compare it with the expected cash for that till and shift. This worked example assumes no cash refunds, payouts or other movements.
Close the shift deliberately
- Confirm the branch, till and shift before taking the count.
- Count the drawer without including the M-Pesa or card total.
- Check recorded cash refunds and any other real drawer movement.
- Review differences with the cashier and keep an explanation rather than editing product sales to force a match.
- Agree the handover cash before the next shift starts.
Do not confuse the worksheet with POS features
The worksheet helps reconcile physical cash. Its fields for other additions and removals do not imply a dedicated cash-movement module in the POS. Record and reconcile any movement through the supported business process. A single branch total cannot explain which of two tills has a shortage.
A useful end-of-day question
The POS does not read weighing scales or deduct fractional kilograms. A counter selling variable weights needs a different supported workflow before launch.

Use whole, pre-packed or fixed-count units. Fractional-weight selling and connected weighing scales are not included.
