Homeware POS sales reports in Kenya

Use homeware POS sales reports to review what sold, how payment was recorded and which stock movements need checking. This worked example uses Dinner plate and Cooking pot, with sample prices you must replace before trading.

Homeware pos sales reports: start with the reporting period

Choose a clear start and end date in Africa/Nairobi time. Then choose the same branch, business type and till when comparing records. A morning shift and a full trading day cover different periods. Write down the scope so another staff member can reproduce the check.

Keep material, size and pack count visible for containers, utensils and household goods. A set of six must not be confused with one piece. Use these catalogue distinctions when grouping and comparing sales totals.

Worked sales check for your counter

Suppose a sample counter sells two Dinner plate units at KES 250 each, and one Cooking pot at KES 1,500. The sale value before any discounts or returns is KES 2,000. Match the quantities and amounts to the underlying sale records. Do not add both a payment reference and its sale total as separate revenue.

Sales value is not the same as profit or cash in the drawer. Cost prices, discounts, returns and recorded expenses affect the result. A credit sale may appear in sales while the customer still owes the balance. Collecting an old debt adds a collection, rather than another sale of the same product.

Match POS sales reports to stock and payment records

Check that the two Dinner plate units reduced the correct catalogue item. A similar pack or service name must not hide a different selling unit. Investigate voids, returns and adjustments separately. The figures here are planning examples and do not prove that actual business records reconcile.

Compare recorded cash with the relevant till shift. Check manually entered M-Pesa Till or Paybill references and card-terminal references against the merchant’s own provider records. A POS payment label does not independently confirm money arrived. Live payment prompts, card processing and eTIMS submission require separate integrations and authorised setup.

Sales report review checklist

These checkboxes are a temporary reading aid. Refreshing the page clears them.

Keep evidence for the next review

Keep a dated export or saved report with the selected filters and any explanation for a difference. Give the owner or authorised manager enough detail to trace a total back to the recorded transactions. These checks support daily management; they are not an audited financial statement, a tax return or a complete accounting ledger.

Try your business workflow

The launch software licence is KES 4,999 once for one business installation, including its branches and tills. Hardware, installation, hosting, support and future upgrades have separate terms. Try sample records first and arrange a separate installation before using real data.
