PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYAStock counting for dairy shop POS in Kenya
This guide to stock counting for dairy shop explains the daily checks. Reconcile the physical count of Fresh milk 1 L with deliveries and sales. A stock difference should be explained before it is adjusted.
Stock counting for dairy shop: count the same unit that you sell
Make bottle volume and pack count visible in the name, particularly when small and large containers sit together.
Separate unusable or spoiled packs before counting sellable stock. Do not use an adjustment to disguise a mismatch between packs and kilograms.
Worked reconciliation
| Movement | Fresh milk 1 L units |
|---|---|
| Opening usable count | 20 |
| Received from supplier | +10 |
| Sold | −4 |
| Expected remaining | 26 |
| Physical count | 25 |
| Difference to investigate | −1 |
Expected stock = opening units + received units − sold units, before returns or adjustments. Here 20 + 10 − 4 = 26. The physical count is one lower. Check deliveries, damage and unrecorded movement before deciding the reason.

What the worksheet leaves out
