PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYA

Catalogue setup for seed and fertiliser shop POS in Kenya

This guide to catalogue setup for seed and fertiliser shop explains the daily checks. Prepare the seed and fertiliser shop catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Seed packet, Fertiliser sealed bag and Garden sprayer as examples.

Catalogue setup for seed and fertiliser shop: decide what one quantity means

Record crop variety, pack size and supplier batch details. Seeds and fertiliser may have similar packaging but different handling requirements.

Use the labelled sale pack and enter supplier and batch information where applicable. The catalogue is a stock record, not permission to dispense or supply regulated goods.

A starter catalogue to adapt

The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order

  1. Check that Seed packet has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
  2. Distinguish Fertiliser sealed bag from Seed packet; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
  3. Count usable Seed packet units and record that physical opening quantity.
  4. On sample records, sell two Seed packet units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
  5. Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.

Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference

If Seed packet was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
