PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYACatalogue setup for tea shop POS in Kenya
This guide to catalogue setup for tea shop explains the daily checks. Prepare the tea shop catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Tea leaves 250 g, Herbal tea box and Tea strainer as examples.
Catalogue setup for tea shop: decide what one quantity means
Separate tea varieties and sealed pack sizes. Prepared tea sold by cup requires its own fixed service or menu item.
A finished meal or fixed portion is the checkout unit. Record preparation ingredients separately; this preset does not calculate recipes or food cost from ingredient use.
A starter catalogue to adapt
The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order
- Check that Tea leaves 250 g has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
- Distinguish Herbal tea box from Tea leaves 250 g; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
- Count usable Tea leaves 250 g units and record that physical opening quantity.
- On sample records, sell two Tea leaves 250 g units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
- Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.
Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference
If Tea leaves 250 g was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
