Catalogue setup for kitchenware shop POS in Kenya

This guide to catalogue setup for kitchenware shop explains the daily checks. Prepare the kitchenware shop catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Saucepan, Cutlery set and Serving bowl as examples.

Catalogue setup for kitchenware shop: decide what one quantity means

Distinguish capacity, material and set count for pots, pans and utensils. Use one consistent unit for each product.

Describe the actual pack the customer receives. Avoid using the same entry for a sealed box and a loose piece unless the chosen stock workflow explicitly supports that conversion.

A starter catalogue to adapt

The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order

  1. Check that Saucepan has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
  2. Distinguish Cutlery set from Saucepan; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
  3. Count usable Saucepan units and record that physical opening quantity.
  4. On sample records, sell two Saucepan units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
  5. Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.

Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference

If Saucepan was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.

Product fit for this business

Use defined whole units and packs. The software is not a complete specialist ERP or double-entry accounting system.

All amounts and product movements on this page are illustrative. The public demo uses sample records. Use an isolated test installation for rehearsal and replace sample prices and counts before real trading.

Try the workflow before choosing your setup
