PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYAStock counting for garden supplies shop POS in Kenya
This guide to stock counting for garden supplies shop explains the daily checks. Reconcile the physical count of Seedling tray with deliveries and sales. A stock difference should be explained before it is adjusted.
Stock counting for garden supplies shop: count the same unit that you sell
Different pot sizes, tool models and packaged growing media should have separate item names and units.
Keep entered batch information alongside the count. Expired or quarantined tracked units should not be treated as ordinary usable stock; the merchant supplies the relevant batch dates.
Worked reconciliation
| Movement | Seedling tray units |
|---|---|
| Opening usable count | 20 |
| Received from supplier | +10 |
| Sold | −4 |
| Expected remaining | 26 |
| Physical count | 25 |
| Difference to investigate | −1 |
Expected stock = opening units + received units − sold units, before returns or adjustments. Here 20 + 10 − 4 = 26. The physical count is one lower. Check deliveries, damage and unrecorded movement before deciding the reason.
