PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYACatalogue setup for bedding shop POS in Kenya
This guide to catalogue setup for bedding shop explains the daily checks. Prepare the bedding shop catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Bedsheet set 4×6, Pillow pair and Duvet 4×6 as examples.
Catalogue setup for bedding shop: decide what one quantity means
Make size and set contents clear for sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. A set and an individual piece should be different units.
Describe the actual pack the customer receives. Avoid using the same entry for a sealed box and a loose piece unless the chosen stock workflow explicitly supports that conversion.
A starter catalogue to adapt
The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.
| Item or service | Sale unit | Sample KES price | Opening count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedsheet set 4×6 | set | 1,800 | Count actual units |
| Pillow pair | pair | 900 | Count actual units |
| Duvet 4×6 | piece | 3,500 | Count actual units |
| Bedsheet set 5×6 | set | 2,200 | Count actual units |
| Duvet cover 5×6 | piece | 2,500 | Count actual units |
| Mosquito net double | piece | 1,500 | Count actual units |
Load and rehearse in this order
- Check that Bedsheet set 4×6 has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
- Distinguish Pillow pair from Bedsheet set 4×6; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
- Count usable Bedsheet set 4×6 units and record that physical opening quantity.
- On sample records, sell two Bedsheet set 4×6 units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
- Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.
Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference
If Bedsheet set 4×6 was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
