PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYACatalogue setup for fruit wholesaler POS in Kenya
This guide to catalogue setup for fruit wholesaler explains the daily checks. Prepare the fruit wholesaler catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Orange crate fixed count, Mango box fixed count and Avocado tray fixed count as examples.
Catalogue setup for fruit wholesaler: decide what one quantity means
Distinguish crate, box and fixed bag units by fruit and grade. Record actual saleable quantities received.
A piece, labelled pack or fixed container must have an unambiguous size. Do not label a variable-weight product as one generic unit and expect the POS to measure it.
A starter catalogue to adapt
The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order
- Check that Orange crate fixed count has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
- Distinguish Mango box fixed count from Orange crate fixed count; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
- Count usable Orange crate fixed count units and record that physical opening quantity.
- On sample records, sell two Orange crate fixed count units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
- Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.
Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference
If Orange crate fixed count was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
