PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYA

Catalogue setup for food truck POS in Kenya

This guide to catalogue setup for food truck explains the daily checks. Prepare the food truck catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Wrap, Hot dog and Water bottle as examples.

Catalogue setup for food truck: decide what one quantity means

Keep a concise menu of fixed portions and make temporary unavailable items clear to staff. Count the truck's opening finished stock before service.

A finished meal or fixed portion is the checkout unit. Record preparation ingredients separately; this preset does not calculate recipes or food cost from ingredient use.

A starter catalogue to adapt

The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.

Load and rehearse in this order

  1. Check that Wrap has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
  2. Distinguish Hot dog from Wrap; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
  3. Count usable Wrap units and record that physical opening quantity.
  4. On sample records, sell two Wrap units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
  5. Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.

Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference

If Wrap was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
