Stock counting for tyre shop: count the same unit that you sell
Include width, profile, rim size and model. Fitting, balancing and valves can be separate fixed items.
Count each size, colour or model separately. An excess of one variant does not cancel a shortage of another when customers need a specific item.

Expected stock = opening units + received units − sold units, before returns or adjustments. Here 20 + 10 − 4 = 26. The physical count is one lower. Check deliveries, damage and unrecorded movement before deciding the reason.
Investigate before changing the balance
- Recount Tyre model 175/70R13 using the catalogue unit.

- Compare receiving records and sales within the same branch and period.
- Separate damage, quarantine and customer returns from normal usable stock.
