PRACTICAL POS GUIDE · KENYACatalogue setup for florist POS in Kenya
This guide to catalogue setup for florist explains the daily checks. Prepare the florist catalogue before the first sale: choose the selling unit, separate similar items and enter counted opening stock. This guide uses Rose bouquet, Mixed bouquet and Flower pot as examples.
Catalogue setup for florist: decide what one quantity means
Define a stem bundle, bouquet or fixed arrangement clearly. Custom arrangements should have an agreed price before checkout.
A piece, labelled pack or fixed container must have an unambiguous size. Do not label a variable-weight product as one generic unit and expect the POS to measure it.
A starter catalogue to adapt
The figures below are illustrative preset prices, not market quotations. They do not describe your stock. Replace them before trading.
| Item or service | Sale unit | Sample KES price | Opening count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose bouquet | piece | 1,800 | Count actual units |
| Mixed bouquet | piece | 2,500 | Count actual units |
| Flower pot | piece | 650 | Count actual units |
| Single rose wrapped | piece | 150 | Count actual units |
| Lily bouquet fixed count | piece | 2,200 | Count actual units |
| Floral foam block | piece | 250 | Count actual units |
Load and rehearse in this order
- Check that Rose bouquet has a clear name, unit, price and unique item code.
- Distinguish Mixed bouquet from Rose bouquet; a similar name must not hide a different pack.
- Count usable Rose bouquet units and record that physical opening quantity.
- On sample records, sell two Rose bouquet units and confirm only that item reduces by two.
- Review the receipt and backup before entering real business records.
Correct the catalogue without hiding a stock difference
If Rose bouquet was named incorrectly, correct the name. If its quantity is wrong, investigate the count and record an explained adjustment. Editing a price or changing a description does not explain missing units. Keep old transactions readable when deciding how to rename an item.
