Stock counting for tiles and sanitaryware shop: count the same unit that you sell

Expected stock = opening units + received units − sold units, before returns or adjustments. Here 20 + 10 − 4 = 26. The physical count is one lower. Check deliveries, damage and unrecorded movement before deciding the reason.
Investigate before changing the balance
- Recount Tile box using the catalogue unit.
- Check that a delivery of Grout pack was not entered against Tile box.
- Compare receiving records and sales within the same branch and period.
- Separate damage, quarantine and customer returns from normal usable stock.
- Record the reason for a supported adjustment and keep the count evidence.
